The Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball is an unincorporated association made up of the 30 member MLB teams and does business as Major League Baseball. Within MLB, there is a Department of Community Affairs and each one of the 30 MLB teams has a department in charge of liaison with community activities. The MLB Dominican Republic office was established in 2000 under the supervision of the International Baseball Operations Department located in MLB’s office in New York. The MLB Dominican Republic office has responsibilities not only for the Dominican Republic but also for Latin America with three major goals: (a) Enhance and protect the investment of MLB teams; (b) Monitor the compliance by teams of MLB regulations and incountry laws; and (c) Enhance the image of MLB in the local communities through outreach programs. www.mlb.com
