BRA Dominicana

The Batey Relief Alliance (BRA) was founded in the state of New York in 1997 as a tax-exempt, non-profit, non-political, humanitarian aid organization to address the socio-economic and health needs of children and their families severely affected by poverty, disease and hunger in the Caribbean. Toward that end, BRA created in 2001 its regional arm, BRA Dominicana, a Dominican Republic-based non-governmental organization to respond to the dire conditions adversely affecting more than 200,000 Dominicans living inside 220 impoverished sugarcane plantations rural communities known as bateyes, urban barrios, and border localities. Former United States President, William Jefferson Clinton, offered his kind support to the work of the BRA, “The Batey Relief Alliance is doing important and difficult work. They need our continued support.” – September 10, 2005.
